Career Transition Coaching Process
We follow these steps in each engagement:
1. Initial meeting. This is accomplished either in person (in St Louis) or via Skype. It is a lengthy discussion during which we clearly understand your situation, answer questions, perform some basic assessments, gather the facts associated with your career to the present date (along with your goals going forward), and collect any material you have already developed (e.g., resume, cover letter, etc.). You will be asked to complete a questionnaire prior to this meeting. If you already have a LinkedIn site we will have thoroughly reviewed it in advance. In this meeting we hear what has worked and not worked for you in the past in order to determine how best to guide you in your transition. Assessments designed to assist you with this process will be completed in advance of the initial meeting. These assessments are accomplished on-line.
2. Follow-up meetings. Going forward, we schedule time with you in one to two hour increments. These meetings are usually held via Skype. Telephone consultations are a back-up method. We will meet twice per month following our initial kick-off meeting. Each session will have a specific purpose to which we agreed at the conclusion of the previous meeting.
3. Duration of Coaching. Each career transition coaching engagement is a 90-day project.
4. Contacts in between scheduled meetings. It is almost a certainty that from time-to-time during a coaching engagement the situation will arise when you need quick access to your coach. This can be to answer specific questions or to obtain some timely advice (e.g., pending interview, etc.). These requests should be made either by a phone, email or text message. Your coach will reach out to you as soon as possible in order to confirm a time for that discussion. In many cases, this discussion can occur immediately.
5. Fee Structure. The fee for ESI's executive transition services covers a 90-day engagement. This fee includes all assessments. An initial retainer is payable in advance of the kick-off meeting. Remaining invoices are sent in 30-day increments for equal amounts and are payable upon receipt. Should you need additional services beyond the 90-day period, your coach will continue to work with you on a month-to-month basis and invoice you accordingly. The total fee for this 90-day service is $4,200. Additional availability after 90 days is invoiced at $1,000 per month.
6. Cancellation Policy. We recognize that for any number of reasons, it may not make sense to continue the process for a full 90-days (e.g., offer acceptance during the process, etc.). Aside from the initial retainer for the kick-off meeting and assessments, we invoice you following our monthly consultations. If you need to cancel this service for any reason you can disengage without penalty and are only obligated for the time you have spent with your executive transition coach to that point.
7. Disclaimer. ESI does not guarantee that you will land a new position as a result of this coaching service.
We respect your time and your budget, and fully understand the challenges facing you in this process. We will operate accordingly.
